Clinical trial planning and emulation (Dare2THINK)
Problem
Anticoagulants greatly reduce the number of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) that will suffer a stroke but are usually only given to older patients or those with other health issues leaving younger patients at risk.
Outcome
We undertook (at pace) an emulation of the clinical trial to see whether introducing DOACs (AF treatment) in younger age groups would lead to an improvement in this cohort.
Outputs: Trial fully funded (at limited risk), assistance with sample size calculations, phenotype generation and outcome follow up.
